{"id":2045,"date":"2022-10-01T07:56:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-01T07:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=2045"},"modified":"2022-11-07T17:16:25","modified_gmt":"2022-11-07T17:16:25","password":"","slug":"hot-keys","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/docs\/hot-keys\/","title":{"rendered":"Hot Keys"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hot-Keys are key combinations you can configure according to your preferences to quickly execute commands via keyboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Assign a Hotkey to an action<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#cce9f5\">There are many commands available to which you can assign a Hotkey. Some have already assigned a default Hotkey that you can change at any time according to your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To assign a Hotkey to an action, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1<\/strong>. Access Hot-Keys configuration window from <em>Overcharts main window<\/em> &gt; <strong><em>Tools<\/em><\/strong> menu &gt; <strong><em>Hot Keys<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2<\/strong>. Select the action you want to assign (or modify) the Hotkey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3<\/strong>. Click on Hotkey cell. Press the key combination you want to assign the action to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Hotkey consists of a combination of <strong>CTRL<\/strong>, <strong>ALT<\/strong>, <strong>SHIFT<\/strong> and any other key (<strong>letter<\/strong>, <strong>number<\/strong>, <strong>symbol<\/strong>, etc.). Keys must be pressed in sequence. For example, if you want to assign <strong>CTRL+A<\/strong> to an action you will have to press CTRL key, then holding down CTRL you will have to press A. if you want to assign <strong>CTRL+ALT+A<\/strong> you will have to press CTRL key, then holding down CTRL you will have to press ALT and then A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#fff36b\">Some key combinations are NOT valid as Hot-Keys. Others, while valid, will not work because they are reserved combinations of the Windows operating system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some keys can also be used individually (without CTRL, ALT, SHIFT):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>F1 &#8230; F12, Page Up, Page Down, Delete, Home, End, Up Arrow, Down Arrow, Right Arrow, Left Arrow.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5<\/strong>. Access Hot-Keys configuration window from <em>Overcharts main window<\/em> &gt; <strong><em>Tools<\/em><\/strong> menu &gt; <strong><em>Hot Keys<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2<\/strong>. Press <strong>ADD<\/strong> button<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5<\/strong>. Select Custom Action type from the list of available types<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6<\/strong>. Set Custom Action properties and press OK<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>7<\/strong>. Assign a hotkey to the Custom Action as described <strong><a href=\"#0-toc-title\">here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>8<\/strong>. Press <strong>OK<\/strong> or <strong>APPLY<\/strong> button in the Hot-Keys configuration window to save all changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Edit a Custom Action<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To edit a Custom Action, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1<\/strong>. Access Hot-Keys configuration window from <em>Overcharts main window<\/em> &gt; <strong><em>Tools<\/em><\/strong> menu &gt; <strong><em>Hot Keys<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2<\/strong>. Select the Custom Action reference section on the left tree-view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3<\/strong>. Select <strong>Custom Actions<\/strong> Tab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4<\/strong>. Select, on the grid, the Custom Action to edit and press <strong>EDIT<\/strong> button<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5<\/strong>. Set Custom Action properties and press OK<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6<\/strong>. Press <strong>OK<\/strong> or <strong>APPLY<\/strong> button in the Hot-Keys configuration window to save all changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Remove\/Delete a Custom Action<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To remove\/delete a Custom Action, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1<\/strong>. Access Hot-Keys configuration window from <em>Overcharts main window<\/em> &gt; <strong><em>Tools<\/em><\/strong> menu &gt; <strong><em>Hot Keys<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2<\/strong>. Select the Custom Action reference section on the left tree-view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3<\/strong>. Select <strong>Custom Actions<\/strong> Tab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4<\/strong>. Select, on the grid, the Custom Action to remove and press <strong>REMOVE<\/strong> button<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5<\/strong>. Press <strong>OK<\/strong> or <strong>APPLY<\/strong> button in the Hot-Keys configuration window to save all changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#cce9f5\">An important example is the Custom Action called <strong>Draw Drawing Tool<\/strong>. This Custom Action allows you to start (by pressing the assigned hotkey) the drawing of a Trendline, Horizontal Line, or any other drawing tool. But the most important feature of this Custom Action is the <strong>ability to set a template<\/strong> to use when creating the object. In other words, by adding for example 2 &#8216;Draw Drawing Tool&#8217; Custom Actions to draw a trendline and setting a different Template for each one in the Custom-Action configuration, you can draw (by pressing the assigned hotkey) the right trendline without having to set style properties every time.<br><br><strong>Other Custom Actions allow you to insert Indicators, Charts, Advanced Columns, Trading System etc. setting a template, making adding the object to the chart very fast.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hot-Keys Usage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use Hot-Keys you have configured to execute commands within the Workspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each Hot-Key works ONLY IF:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>pressed in the <strong>right context<\/strong> (Workspace, Chart, DOM etc.) where the action to be performed is available. In other words, if for example a hotkey that starts the drawing of a trendline is pressed on DOM window, the assigned action will NOT be performed.<\/li><li>when the hotkey is pressed, the <strong>window is focused<\/strong>.
