{"id":1516,"date":"2022-01-03T07:40:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T07:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=1516"},"modified":"2024-06-14T08:19:36","modified_gmt":"2024-06-14T08:19:36","password":"","slug":"chart-trading","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/docs\/chart-trading\/","title":{"rendered":"Chart Trading"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Overcharts you can trade directly from chart and then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em><strong>Place<\/strong><\/em> or <strong><em>cancel<\/em><\/strong> an order <em>with just one click<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>modify<\/em><\/strong><em> the <\/em><strong><em>order price<\/em><\/strong> with <em>Drag &amp; Drop<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>modify<\/em><\/strong><em> the <\/em><strong><em>order size<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>display all orders you have placed for an instrument\/account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>place <em>complex strategies <\/em>such as <strong><em>Bracket<\/em><\/strong> orders, <em><strong>OCO<\/strong><\/em> (One Cancels Other) and <strong><em>OSO<\/em><\/strong> (Order Sends Order)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>close<\/em><\/strong> or <strong><em>reverse<\/em><\/strong> an open position<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>display last x <strong><em>filled orders<\/em><\/strong> on chart<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Enable Chart Trading<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#fff36b\">To enable chart trading <strong><em>you also need to activate Trading in the Workspace<\/em><\/strong> by pressing <strong>TRADING<\/strong> button at the top right of Workspace window<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once trading is activated in the Workspace, enable chart trading in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>right click on chart window<\/em> &gt; <strong>ENABLE Chart Trading<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or from <em><strong>Chart Trading<\/strong><\/em> menu (top right of chart window) &gt; <strong>ENABLE Chart Trading<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When chart trading is enabled, <strong><em>Bid\/Ask columns<\/em><\/strong> (blue and red in the image below) are shown in the chart window to be used for placing orders, and <strong><em>Trading Panel<\/em><\/strong> (where you can set all parameters of the order to be placed):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"674\" src=\"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/chart-trading-panel1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1521\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/chart-trading-panel1.png 620w, https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/chart-trading-panel1-400x435.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can trade ONLY the window main chart, i.e. the one identified by symbol at the top left of chart window. In other words, if in the same chart window there are multiple overlapping charts (even of the same instrument), you will be able to trade ONLY the main chart.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reduce Trading Panel to Gain Space<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, Trading Panel can be cumbersome, significantly reducing space available for the chart. Clicking on these columns with the mouse places an order immediately. Trading-Panel contains all order information: <strong><em>Type<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Quantity<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>TIF<\/em><\/strong> etc. Trading-Panel also displays information on account\/instrument current <strong><em>position<\/em><\/strong> and allows to close or reverse the position, cancel all orders of a specific instrument, and many other functions. For more info on Trading-Panel, see the page: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/docs\/trading-panel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trading Panel<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To place an order, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1<\/strong>. <strong><em>Set order type<\/em><\/strong> corresponding to the mouse left and\/or right click according to the order to be placed. In Overcharts there are 2 macro categories of orders: <strong>LIMIT ORDERS<\/strong> (which include limit, iceberg, market if touched etc. orders) and <strong>STOP ORDERS<\/strong> (which include stop, stop limit, trailing stop, trailing stop limit etc. orders).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Available order types may change depending on data feed<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To place a <strong>LIMIT<\/strong> order, select &#8220;LMT [Limit]&#8221; order type in the combo-box associated with mouse <em><strong>left<\/strong><\/em> click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To place a <strong>STOP<\/strong> order, select &#8220;STP [Stop]&#8221; order type in the combo-box associated with mouse <strong><em>right<\/em><\/strong> click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then define whether it is a Single, OCO, OSO or Bracket order (for more information see Trading-Panel page).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2<\/strong>. <strong><em>Set order quantity<\/em><\/strong>, and <strong><em>TIF<\/em><\/strong> (Time in force)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3<\/strong>. If the order is a <strong><em>buy<\/em><\/strong> order, go over the <strong>BID<\/strong> column (blue in the image), then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the order is a <strong>LIMIT<\/strong> order, click with <strong><em>left<\/em><\/strong> mouse button on a price level <strong><em>lower than or equal to<\/em><\/strong> Best Bid (see in the image below the green area highlighted on BID column)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the order is a <strong>STOP<\/strong> order, click with <strong><em>right<\/em><\/strong> mouse button on a price level <strong><em>greater than <\/em><\/strong>Best Bid (see in the image below the yellow area highlighted on BID column)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the order is a <em><strong>sell<\/strong><\/em> order, go over the <strong>ASK<\/strong> column (red in the image), then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the order is a <strong>LIMIT<\/strong> order, click with <strong><em>left<\/em><\/strong> mouse button on a price level <strong><em>greater than or equal to<\/em><\/strong> Best Ask (see in the image below the green area highlighted on ASK column)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the order is a <strong>STOP<\/strong> order, click with <strong><em>right<\/em><\/strong> mouse button on a price level <strong><em>lower than <\/em><\/strong>Best Ask (see in the image below the yellow area highlighted on ASK column)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/www.overcharts.com\/en\/helpcenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/chart-trading-bid-askl1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1523\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#cce9f5\">If with left mouse button (limit order) you click on areas highlighted in yellow, the limit order will most likely be executed immediately. For some traders this could be an inconvenience. For more information see Trading-Panel page.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Place a MARKET Order<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can place a <em>MARKET<\/em> order, i.e. an order to be executed immediately at the current Bid or Ask price depending on whether it is a sell or buy order respectively, in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press <strong><em>Buy MKT<\/em><\/strong> or <strong><em>Sell MKT<\/em><\/strong> button respectively if you want to place a buy or sell market order<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or, if allowed by data-feed and by selected order type, <em>left click<\/em> on levels above Best BID to buy &#8216;<em>at market<\/em>&#8216;, or <em>left click <\/em>on levels below Best ASK to sell &#8216;<em>at market<\/em>&#8216;. To place a market order in this way, &#8216;<strong><em>Allow Left Click: Above\/Below market<\/em><\/strong>&#8216; property must be checked in <em>Chart Trading Settings<\/em> window<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Close or Reverse the Position<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can close or reverse current position:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>by pressing respective buttons on <em>label Position<\/em> (see image below)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or from Trading-Panel by pressing <strong><em>CLOSE<\/em><\/strong> or <em><strong>REV<\/strong><\/em> button respectively<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both functions also cancel ALL working orders of instrument\/account.
