# Category

Category is an **OPTIONAL** instrument attribute and is used to filter the instrument list in a personalized way.

You can assign a category to the instrument from instrument configuration (*Overcharts* main window > ***Instruments*** Tab).

#### **Access category list**

You can access category list in one of the following ways:

**1.** From *Overcharts main window* >***Instrument*****s**Tab > ***Categories***button

**2.** From *Overcharts main window* > ***Instruments*** menu > *Categories*

#### **Create or Modify a category**

To create/modify a category:

**1.** Access category list

**2.** Select the category to edit and press **Edit** button, or press **New** button to create a new category

**3.** Set or change the following properties:

**Name**: category unique name

#### **How to use it**

From *Overcharts main window* > ***Instruments*** Tab > Combo-box at the top left:

- Select **Custom Category** item:
